Baghdad: The leader of the Sovereignty Alliance, Khamis al-Khanjar, has urged Sunni forces to cease media campaigns against one another and instead embrace a sense of historical responsibility. He emphasized that the current media exchanges, characterized by defamation and hostility, are detrimental to the Sunni and national political landscape.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, al-Khanjar expressed his concern over the ongoing media campaigns and mutual debates among Sunni parties, which have devolved into defamation and hostility. He warned that these practices not only harm individual parties but also damage the broader political scene, causing confusion among the public and eroding voter confidence.

Al-Khanjar stressed that the primary focus should not be on trading accusations or settling scores but on uniting around the rights of the masses. He outlined practical steps needed to address the pressing issues faced by the people, including returning displaced individuals to their homes, ending the presence of armed groups in urban areas, uncovering the fate of the disappeared, releasing innocent detainees, and addressing compensation for destroyed homes to restore dignity and normalcy.

He called on Sunni forces to prioritize historical responsibility, cease counterproductive media campaigns, and leverage their political and popular influence to achieve security, stability, and social justice for the people.
