Skeleton Dating Back to Liberation Battles Found in Wadi Akab

Mosul: A source in the Nineveh police reported the discovery of a skeleton dating back to the liberation battles in Wadi Akab, west of Mosul. Local police in Nineveh uncovered the skeleton during a field operation in the area.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, initial examination suggests that the remains are from the period of the battles to liberate Mosul from ISIS. The site of the discovery has been cordoned off as authorities undertake the necessary legal procedures. The remains have been transferred to the forensic medicine department for further examination and identification, if possible. Relevant authorities are following up on the case according to standard procedures.
