Smart Waste Collection Project Launched in Holy Karbala

Karbala:Holy Karbala: The National Investment Commission (NIC) has announced a pioneering smart waste collection project in Holy Karbala, highlighting its cost-effective benefits.

According to Iraqi News Agency, Salar Mohammed, Deputy Chairman of the Commission, stated that the NIC has initiated a project aimed at collecting and incinerating waste to generate electricity. This project is being implemented by a Chinese company and initially started in Baghdad, encompassing the Rusafa and Karkh districts.

The NIC has also granted the Chinese company a license to produce electricity from waste in the Nahrawan area and has allocated a site in Karkh for this purpose. The contract with the Chinese company was coordinated with several government entities, including the Ministries of Electricity, Environment, Construction, Housing, and Municipalities, as well as the Mayoralty of Baghdad. This collective effort underscores the collaboration among government bodies to establish facilities dedicated to waste incineration and electricity generation.
