Baghdad: The Security Media Cell (SMC) has firmly denied any movements involving the Iraqi army, the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF), or the Peshmerga in the territories shared by the central and regional governments.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the SMC clarified in a statement that reports circulating on certain media outlets and social media platforms regarding alleged military movements are false. The statement emphasized that the areas in question are managed under a joint administration between the central and regional governments, ensuring coordinated command and control to maintain security. There are no independent movements by any military faction, and the current situation necessitates enhanced collaboration and cooperative efforts.

The SMC further highlighted that joint operations involving all relevant units and formations dedicated to protecting these areas are ongoing, with continuous coordination to plan and execute future joint operations. It was noted that coordination meetings are regularly conducted through joint coordination centers, facilitating communication between top leadership to oversee sectors of mutual interest and share information critical to combating terrorism.

The statement also reiterated that there are no movements by units from the Ministries of Defense and Interior, the PMF, the Peshmerga, or any security units beyond their established positions. Duties are being performed through joint efforts and collaboration, with close coordination between federal forces and Peshmerga units along the front lines to manage areas of interest.

Lastly, the SMC urged all media outlets and social media platforms to exercise caution when reporting security news. It called for reliance on authentic and credible sources to prevent the dissemination of false information, which could negatively impact societal peace. This appeal comes at a time when community solidarity and support for the security forces are crucial to strengthening stability in the country.
