Baghdad: The National Oil Marketing Company (SOMO) emphasized the significance of the upcoming Baghdad International Energy Forum as a crucial event in showcasing Iraq’s global position in the energy sector. During a meeting with Abbas Al-Amiri, Chairman of the Ghadan Risk Management Foundation, SOMO’s Director General, Ali Nizar, highlighted the forum as an opportunity to develop new energy policies and attract foreign investment into Iraqi projects.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Abbas Al-Amiri confirmed that the preparatory committee for the forum has extended invitations to OPEC energy ministers, as well as international and local companies, experts, and specialists within the energy sector. He acknowledged the cooperation of the Ministry of Oil, SOMO, and other relevant entities in ensuring the success of the event.

The forum’s program, scheduled to take place in Baghdad on September 6 and 7, 2025, was discussed by the two parties. The event is expected to see widespread participation from significant international and regional figures in the energy field.
