Baghdad: Following its rehabilitation, the Southern Energy Transmission Company has successfully completed the connection and commissioning of the Rumaila Gas – CPS6 and 7 line, effectively putting it into service. The technical and engineering team from the General Company for Electricity Transmission in the Southern Region completed the project, marking a significant milestone in enhancing the region’s energy infrastructure.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the head of the supervising committee, Engineer Jalal Yasser Abadi, detailed that the project involved cutting, connecting, and rerouting the New Rumaila – CPS6, 7 line to form the new Rumaila Gas – CPS6, 7 configuration. This followed the line’s rehabilitation, which included the installation and wiring of additional towers along the 11 km stretch from the Rumaila Gas Power Plant to the vicinity of the New Rumaila Power Plant. The revamped line comprises 37 towers, with all necessary technical procedures for the bays, and protection and communication equipment adjusted to meet new connection requirements.

Engineer Abadi noted that the initiative would ease network bottlenecks in Basra Governorate’s cities and suburbs by supplying oil sites independently, thereby ensuring greater stability and reliability in power supply.

The company’s Director General, Engineer Ali Zuhair Karim, commended the outstanding efforts of the supervisory committee and all involved staff. He emphasized that the company’s continuous achievements in the southern region significantly bolster the reliability and stability of the electrical grid.
