Baghdad: Speaker of Parliament Haibat al-Halbousi chaired a meeting of the Parliamentary Security and Defense Committee on Tuesday, with committee members in attendance. A statement from al-Halbousi's office indicated that the committee reviewed its priorities for the upcoming period, discussed legislative and oversight matters within its purview, and emphasized the need to expedite the completion of draft laws and proposals referred to it, in accordance with current requirements.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, in its legislative work, the Parliamentary Security and Defense Committee completed a meeting of the team formed to discuss and finalize the second proposed amendment to the Internal Security Forces Service and Retirement Law No. (18) of 2011. The meeting, chaired by MP Hatem Fahim Kassar, head of the team, and attended by its members, saw the completion of discussions on the articles of the proposed law and a review of observations and suggestions submitted by relevant parties. The aim is to arrive at sound and balanced legal formulations that guarantee the rights of Internal Security Forces personnel and are consistent with the provisions of the Constitution and applicable laws, paving the way for the completion of the legislative procedures related to the proposal.
