Los Angeles: Emergency measures were invoked by Mayor Karen Bass following violent confrontations between demonstrators and law enforcement. The protests erupted in response to President Donald Trump’s immigration policies.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Mayor Bass announced the implementation of a nighttime curfew from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., set to remain effective for three days. The curfew covers a specific one-square-mile area in downtown Los Angeles, encompassing five major streets. During a press conference, Bass emphasized the necessity of the curfew to curb vandalism and looting in the city center. She also urged the Trump administration to cease immigration raids and stated that the presence of Marines was unnecessary.

California Governor Gavin Newsom criticized President Trump, accusing him of condoning violence when it aligns with his interests. Newsom expressed concerns about threats to democracy and constitutional integrity.

The unrest was sparked by reports from Western media about clashes at a detention center for illegal immigrants. Authorities continued to arrest demonstrators and restricted media coverage, with some reporters facing threats of imprisonment. Protesters were seen holding the American flag upside down, symbolizing dissent against the state.

The streets of Los Angeles have witnessed significant unrest as infiltrators targeted stores, leading to vandalism and looting. An Apple store and several other businesses were affected, prompting some to board up their premises or remove merchandise. The situation was described as resembling a war zone.
