Baghdad: The State of Law Coalition has firmly denied a statement that has been circulating about its alleged rejection of nine candidates for the position of prime minister and its purported intention to endorse a compromise candidate.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Yasser al-Maliki, the head of the State of Law parliamentary bloc, refuted the claims in a post on the social media platform X. Al-Maliki asserted, “We in the State of Law Coalition affirm that the statement circulating regarding the coalition’s position on rejecting the nine candidates and supporting a compromise candidate for prime minister is a fabricated statement and has no basis in reality. We categorically deny it.”

He further emphasized that the coalition’s political positions are based on information from official and accredited sources within the coalition. Al-Maliki also warned the public against being misled by rumors or fabricated statements, which he suggested are intended to create confusion and disrupt public opinion, particularly during this sensitive phase in the political process.
