Baghdad: The head of the Reconstruction and Building Coalition, Mohammed Shia al-Sudani, has emphasized that commemorating the Yazidi genocide is both a national and moral obligation. He underscored the importance of unity among Iraqis, respect for the rights of all communities, and adherence to the rule of law as essential elements for creating a secure and stable Iraq that honors the dignity of all its citizens.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Al-Sudani shared his thoughts on the (X) platform, marking the anniversary of the genocide perpetrated by ISIS against the Yazidi community. He described the event as one of the most atrocious crimes in Iraq's modern history, highlighting the severe human suffering it caused and its assault on the values of coexistence and diversity that define Iraqi society.

Al-Sudani elaborated on the significance of commemorating the anniversary, stating that it is a responsibility that calls for ongoing efforts to achieve justice for the victims. This includes uncovering the fate of those abducted and missing, providing care for survivors, and supporting the reconstruction of affected areas. These actions are aimed at ensuring the dignified and safe return of displaced persons to their homes, establishing justice, and preventing the recurrence of similar atrocities.
