Basra: The Supreme Council for Iraqi Women has called for safeguarding the case of Dr. Ban Ziad from political exploitation. The Council expressed deep sadness over the death of Dr. Ban Ziad Tariq in Basra Governorate, which has led to widespread condemnation and calls for transparency in revealing the truth to the public. According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Council emphasized its confidence in the Iraqi judiciary's ability to act with transparency and justice, ensuring justice for Dr. Ziad and thereby upholding the dignity and rights of Iraqi women. The Council reiterated its commitment to defending women's rights and dignity at all levels and stressed the importance of protecting the case from political manipulation. Dr. Ban Ziad's death on August 4th under mysterious circumstances shocked both her colleagues and the public in Basra. While local security sources suggested suicide, Interior Minister Abdul Amir al-Shammari has sent a special investigative committee to Basra to ensure the integrity of the investigation. Additionally, the Public Prosecution Office received a parliamentary request to form a committee of forensic experts for further examination of the case involving Basra's renowned psychiatrist. Former MP Rehab Al-Abouda highlighted potential links between Dr. Ziad's death and the murder of university professor Sarah Al-Abouda, suggesting that Dr. Ziad had refused to report the perpetrator as mentally ill. However, the Basra Health Department denied Dr. Ziad's involvement in assessing the mental health of Dhurgham Abdul-Salem Nema, the accused in Sarah Al-Abouda's murder.
