Suspect Arrested in Connection with Officer’s Death in Dora District


Baghdad: A suspect has been arrested in connection with an incident that led to the death of an officer and a security trainee in the Dora district. The Security Media Cell announced the arrest on Thursday, highlighting a significant development in the investigation.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Security Media Cell reported that information was received about a shooting incident in the vicinity of Dora, Karara, and Tigris neighborhood. A security force, including the Abu Dshir Emergency Response Unit and the Arab Jabour Police Station, was dispatched to the scene. It was discovered that detachments from the Baghdad Municipality and the municipality responsible for removing encroachments had been targeted by gunfire. This attack resulted in the death of a brigadier general, who was the director of the Municipality Police Department in Karkh district, and a member of the security forces. Additionally, a Federal Police member, two Municipality Police members, and a Municipality employee sustained injuries.



The Security Media Cell further noted that security forces, led by the Baghdad Operations Commander and supported by several security leaders, established a tight cordon around the area. They closed all entrances to conduct a comprehensive search operation to apprehend the perpetrators. One suspect has been arrested, but search and investigation efforts continue.
