Baghdad: The Security Media Cell announced on Thursday the arrest of a suspect in connection with the killing of an officer and a police member in Baghdad’s Al-Dora area.

According to Iraqi News Agency, the cell stated that information was received about a shooting incident resulting in casualties in the vicinity of Al-Dora, Karara, and Dijla District. A security force comprising personnel from the Abu Dashir Emergency Patrol Sector Command and Arab Jbour Police Station responded by heading to the scene.

The force discovered that the Baghdad Municipality Regiment and municipal personnel tasked with removing violations had been directly targeted by gunfire. This attack led to the death of a brigadier general, Director of the Karkh-side Police Department, and a police member. Additionally, one Federal Police member, two members of the Police Department, and one Baghdad Municipality employee sustained injuries.

Security forces, under the command of the Baghdad Operations Commander and with several security commanders on-site, imposed a tight cordon around the area. They closed access routes to conduct a wide-scale search operation aimed at pursuing the perpetrators. A suspect has been arrested, and search and pursuit operations continue.
