Suspect Arrested with 700,000 Counterfeit Dinars at Shalamja Border Crossing


Baghdad: A suspect was arrested in possession of 700,000 counterfeit dinars at the Shalamja border crossing. Detachments from the Shalamja Customs Police Station, affiliated with the Border Guard Command, arrested a suspect attempting to smuggle 700,000 Iraqi dinars in counterfeit currency into the country.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Fourth Border Region Command stated that the arrest occurred while the station’s detachments were performing their security duties in the arrivals hall. They found the suspect in possession of counterfeit 25,000 dinar notes, which he intended to bring into the country.

The statement added that the detachments prepared a seizure report and referred the suspect and the counterfeit money to the Organized Crime Department for legal proceedings.
