Baghdad: The Swedish Charg© d’Affaires in Iraq, J¶rgen Lindstr¶m, has announced his government’s plan to reopen its embassy in Baghdad. This announcement was made during a meeting with Iraq’s National Security Advisor, Qasim al-Araji.
According to the National Iraqi News Agency, the meeting focused on the bilateral relations between Iraq and Sweden, discussing ways to enhance and strengthen joint cooperation. Al-Araji emphasized Iraq’s dedication to maintaining balanced international relations, including those with Sweden, and noted the global respect for Prime Minister Ali Al-Zaidi, which aligns with Iraq’s goals to improve foreign relations.
Lindstr¶m extended congratulations to Iraq on its National Day and reaffirmed Sweden’s commitment to developing relations with Iraq. The conversation also involved discussions on existing and potential cooperation between the Iraqi and Swedish interior ministries, as well as judicial collaboration. These efforts aim to facilitate the exchange of expertise and information, furthering areas of joint cooperation.
