Stockholm: Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson announced his resignation on Thursday following the opposition’s victory in the parliamentary elections. Kristersson, who leads the center-right bloc, saw his party lose to the opposition in the elections held on September 13.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Kristersson addressed his resignation in a letter to the Speaker of Parliament, stating, “I request to be relieved of my duties as Prime Minister.” The text of his resignation letter was shared publicly on his X account. Kristersson expressed concerns about the challenges the election results may present in forming the next government.

Kristersson highlighted that differing statements made by parties before the elections might create obstacles for candidates vying for the Prime Minister position and potential coalitions. He emphasized the importance of negotiations with all parties to establish the necessary conditions for forming a stable and effective government.
