Damascus: The Syrian Foreign Ministry welcomed the European Union’s decision to suspend sanctions imposed on the country. The ministry expressed that this development is a step towards economic recovery and improving access to basic services, which could enhance long-term stability in the region.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the ministry emphasized that the Syrian people deserve an opportunity to determine their future. They stated that this goal can be fully achieved only by lifting all remaining sanctions. The ministry affirmed its commitment to working with partners to ensure all sanctions are lifted, enabling the Syrian people to prosper and regain their place in a peaceful and prosperous region.

Kaya Kallas, High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, had previously announced that the EU foreign ministers agreed on a roadmap to ease sanctions on Syria.
