Baghdad: The Syrian Ministry of Interior announced today that it had seized approximately 12 million Captagon pills in the possession of a drug smuggling network in the Damascus countryside and arrested the person responsible. This comes as part of its efforts to combat smuggling and dry up its sources.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the ministry explained, in a statement, that the operation came after precise monitoring and tracking of a smuggling network that was preparing to smuggle large quantities of narcotics out of the country. It noted that the pills were seized in Al-Dhamir area and confiscated for destruction, while the accused was referred to the competent judicial authorities.
