Sweida: Syrian security forces have successfully regained control of strategic areas in the Sweida countryside following intense armed clashes. A Syrian security source confirmed that the Syrian Internal Security Forces reclaimed positions in Tal al-Hadid, Raymah Hazem, and Walgha, which had been advanced upon by the ‘Sheikh al-Hajri militias.’

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the official news agency, SANA, reported on Sunday that the security forces managed to repel an organized attack by the al-Hajri militias. The attack targeted Internal Security points in the Sweida Governorate, leading to the temporary loss of control in the affected areas. The Syrian Internal Security Forces swiftly responded, regaining control to ensure the continuation of a previously established ceasefire agreement.

The security source mentioned that the area has been secured by the Internal Security Forces, and clashes have ceased to uphold the ceasefire. This development is crucial as it marks a significant step in maintaining stability in the region after recent tensions.

Earlier today, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported the deaths of two individuals in the Sweida Governorate, marking the first casualties since the ceasefire was implemented two weeks ago. The fatalities included one local from Sweida and a member of the General Security, highlighting the fragile nature of peace in the area. Previous clashes had resulted in over 1,400 deaths, underscoring the severity of the conflict in the region.
