Tehran: Interior Ministers from Iraq, Iran, and Pakistan affirmed, during their joint meeting in Tehran on Monday, cooperation between the three countries to facilitate the Arbaeen pilgrimage.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Interior Minister Abdul Amir al-Shammari announced during the meeting Iraq’s full readiness to host pilgrims, calling for continued Iranian support. He also asked Pakistan to manage the return of its nationals.

For his part, the Pakistani Interior Minister affirmed full support for the programs of Iran and Iraq, saying, “No Pakistani will be allowed to travel to Iraq without a permit.”

In turn, Interior Minister Abdul Amir Al-Shammari praised Iran for hosting the meeting and the presence of the Pakistani Interior Minister, stressing, “All service and logistical capabilities have been prepared to serve the Arbaeen pilgrims, based on the Prime Minister’s directives.”

He added, “The Iraqi government’s efforts began a long time ago to provide facilities and address obstacles in all Iraqi governorates.” The Iraqi government and people are ready to host all visitors from around the world, especially visitors from the Islamic Republic of Iran, followed by Pakistani visitors. We will work to provide them with services that are appropriate.”

He stressed the need for joint cooperation among relevant institutions in various countries and to enhance field efforts during the visit, saying, “We need a spirit of cooperation. Accordingly, we ask our brothers in Iran to continue their support as in previous years.”

The Interior Minister also asked his Pakistani counterpart to manage the movement of Pakistani visitors returning to their country, noting the large number of Pakistani visitors entering Iraq through various crossings.

Al-Shammari emphasized the importance of strengthening joint efforts, noting that Iraq hosted more than 5 million foreign visitors last year, including more than 3 million from Iran and the rest from other countries.
