Barcelona: Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andr© ter Stegen has joined Ajax on loan for the 2026-2027 season, the 36-time Dutch champions announced. "Ajax has reached an agreement with Barcelona and Marc-Andr© ter Stegen," the Dutch club said in a statement.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the 34-year-old, who joined Barcelona in 2014 from Borussia M¶nchengladbach, missed a large part of the past two seasons due to injuries. With Juan Garca securing the starting goalkeeper position under German coach Hansi Flick, the Catalan club loaned ter Stegen to Girona in January. However, in February, he suffered a hamstring injury during his second appearance for his new team, ending his season.
The German international was not called up to his country's squad for the recent World Cup in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Ter Stegen, who won the Champions League title in 2015 and seven La Liga titles with Barcelona, is under contract until June 2028 with the 29-time Spanish champions.
