The Arab Bloc in Kirkuk Council Rejects PUK Statements on Governor’s Position Rotation

Kirkuk: The Arab bloc in the Kirkuk Provincial Council has expressed its rejection of recent statements made by Dr. Ahmed Fateh, a member of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), concerning the non-existence of an agreement to rotate the governor’s position among the components of Kirkuk.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Sheikh Dhahir Anwar Al-Asi and Raad Saleh Al-Jubouri emphasized their commitment to uphold the agreement that entails rotating the governor’s position among Kirkuk’s constituents. The agreement also includes the release of individuals held in the region’s prisons and the reconstruction of destroyed villages.

Al-Asi and Al-Jubouri’s joint statement called upon the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan to issue a clarification regarding the statements made by Dr. Fateh. They warned that failure to do so could lead to public opposition against the PUK.
