The Basra Operations Commander directs the implementation of pre-emptive operations to control borders and work to prevent the flow of narcotic substances to Iraqi lands

Baghdad The Commander of Basra Operations, Major General Ali Abdul-Hussein Al-Majidi, has directed to carry out preemptive operations to control the borders and work to prevent the flow of narcotic substances to Iraqi lands.

Al-Majidi stressed during his visit to the Border Guard Command, Region Four, in a statement, on the necessity of controlling the borders with neighboring countries, and working to prevent the flow of narcotic substances into Iraqi lands, harnessing all available capabilities, and assigning the Coast Guard Command to carry out its security duties.

He added, “Through our review of the border strip, we noticed the presence of some areas very close to them that may be used in smuggling operations, especially the southern areas to the sector of responsibility,” directing the need to carry out pre-emptive operations and extensive inspections in those areas and to tighten security measures in border control by making use of surveillance cameras and drones.
