Baghdad: The Coordination Framework has urged its members of parliament to exercise freedom in their choices for the presidential candidate, should there be no consensus on a single nominee. The group also called upon the leadership of the Kurdistan Region to consider the proposals presented during a recent delegation visit, aiming to expedite consensus and resolve the ongoing deadlock.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, an official statement from the Coordination Framework emphasized the significance of adhering to constitutional timelines as outlined in the Iraqi Constitution, and it urged for a swift resolution to the presidential issue. The statement highlighted that the ongoing paralysis of state institutions is at odds with the political, economic, and security challenges facing the country.
Moreover, the Coordination Framework expressed its firm opposition to the use of Iraqi territory for attacking any nation and urged security forces to take necessary precautions. The statement also called for exercising maximum restraint in response to provocations, to prevent any actions that could be used as a pretext to target or destabilize Iraq.
