The EU Advisory Mission: There is international interest in Basra and Iraq’s presence in the region

Baghdad The European Union’s advisory mission to Iraq confirmed the international and global interest in Basra and Iraq’s presence in the region.

The head of the European Union’s advisory mission in Iraq, Anders Vibari, said during the meetings of the “Symposium of Major Events” held today, Monday in Baghdad, “There is international and global interest in the Basra file, and Iraq’s presence in the region has improved a lot, and now it seems as if Iraq will also host major sporting and other events in the near future.” Added “This is an encouraging work, given the difficult times the country has gone through in the previous decades.”

He added, “This event was one of the major sporting events for Iraq 40 years ago, and it was a great task to organize such an ambitious event after all these decades.”

He explained, “We have launched many sporting events and festivals in Europe over the successive years, but for us as Europeans, these sporting events are also great and represent a challenge for us towards public administration and police administration.”

He went on to say, “The role of the Minister of Interior and his leadership in taking on these challenges was a fruitful effort. Police work and police administration require strength, flexibility and adaptive leadership. He invited partners such as the European Union’s advisory mission to support this event and efforts, as well as the governor of Basra and the people of the city. They all did good job in speed, adapting to these circumstances and the event, and being very welcoming to the guests.”

He added, “Leadership was also required for both leaders and managers at different levels, which are fruitful efforts as a team in the end, as well as police officers who did a good job in training,” indicating, “We are also trying to improve the methodology of the police and take seriously their duty of care to ensure peace, security and management.” The professionalism of the event, whether it is sports, demonstrations or an executive visit in order to improve all of our performance, and every time we make sure and guarantee the submission of reports and communications related to lessons and document what we have learned in future coordination.
