Baghdad: The Fifth Baghdad International Water Conference concluded in the capital city, Baghdad, on Monday afternoon, marking a significant step forward in addressing water resource management challenges in the region. The event, which also included the Micro Irrigation Conference, was officially closed by the Minister of Water Resources, Aoun Diab.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Minister Diab emphasized the importance of the conferences, not just for their recommendations and outcomes, but for the commitment to pursuing practical solutions. He highlighted that joint cooperation is crucial for ensuring a secure future, noting that the discussions and recommendations from the conference represent the start of a long journey requiring continuous effort and genuine dedication to transform these visions into reality.

The Minister further affirmed the Ministry of Water Resources’ commitment, backed by the government and the Prime Minister, to diligently follow up on the conference’s outcomes. He stated that the ministry is focused on translating the recommendations into practical projects and policies, aligned with the implementation of an initiative launched by the Prime Minister. This initiative aims to achieve the goals and principles set during the conference.

Minister Diab also called on countries in the region and beyond to strengthen constructive cooperation in managing shared water resources, emphasizing the need for a collaborative approach to address water-related challenges effectively.
