Baghdad Minister of Foreign Affairs Fouad Hussein and his German counterpart Miguel Berger stressed support for the voluntary return of migrants stranded on the border strip between Belarus and Poland.

During a meeting held on the sidelines of the Manama Dialogue 17 meetings in Bahrain, the two ministers stressed the need to move quickly to stop the smuggling networks that exploit citizens.

The Minister said, according to a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, that the Iraqi government is ready to provide support and assistance to Iraqi immigrants, and to return them to Iraq by conducting voluntary return flights.

During the meeting, the two ministers also discussed relations between the two countries, and the prospects for upgrading them to meet the aspirations of the two friendly peoples. They also discussed the economic file, and activating bilateral cooperation mechanisms for the benefit of Iraq and Germany.

The minister affirmed his keenness to enhance means of bilateral cooperation with Berlin in various fields.

During the meeting, the Minister discussed the parliamentary elections that took place last month, which were internationally monitored, and in a way that enhances the democratic path in Iraq, and reflects positively on the unity of the Iraqi components.
