Basra: The General Company for Iraqi Ports has firmly denied reports of any ship or vessel incident occurring within Iraqi territorial waters, asserting that maritime operations are continuing as usual without any disturbances.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the company stated that allegations regarding commercial or oil tankers being involved in incidents at commercial or oil ports, shipping lanes, or within Iraqi territorial waters are baseless. The company emphasized that maritime traffic is progressing smoothly and safely, following established operational plans with continuous monitoring by relevant authorities.
The statement highlighted that specialized teams have been established to ensure the safety and security of ships within territorial waters and shipping lanes. These teams provide daily reports to the Administrative Undersecretary of the Ministry of Transport, Hazem al-Hafazi, who heads the Iraqi Higher Maritime Security Committee, or to his deputy, Farhan al-Fartousi, Director General of the General Company for Iraqi Ports.
The company also mentioned that there is complete coordination with the Iraqi Naval Forces Command to address any emergencies, urging media outlets to rely on official statements released by the Ministry rather than rumors or inaccurate information.
