Basra: The Governor of Basra, Asaad Al-Eidani, met with a delegation from Qatar’s Al Sadd Club, which arrived in the province today. The governor emphasized Basra’s commitment to providing all necessary support for both teams, aiming to ensure the success of the Asian tournament in a manner befitting the province’s stature.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the meeting was attended by the head of the security committee in the Basra Provincial Council, Dr. Aqeel Al-Fariji, the head of the Basra branch of the Iraqi Football Association, Bader Nasser, and the director of youth and sports, Sadiq Al-Kinani. The Al Sadd delegation praised the warm welcome extended by the Basra government and its governor.
Al Sadd is scheduled to play its match tomorrow, Monday, against Iran’s Esteghlal at the Basra Sports City Stadium, as part of the AFC Champions League. Esteghlal arrived in Basra yesterday, accompanied by the Omani refereeing team set to officiate the match.
