The Kurdistan Islamic Union stresses the importance of forming a national service government in Iraq

Baghdad The Kurdistan Islamic Union stressed the need to expedite the formation of a national service government in Iraq.

The Union said in a statement: “While we welcome the decision of the Federal Supreme Court, we congratulate the Iraqi people and the winning parties. We stress the need to take the constitutional measures in their tracks, by convening the new elected House of Representatives, naming the three presidential candidates within a comprehensive national context, and expediting the formation of a national service government; that preserves the prestige of the state, addresses crises, and achieves the aspirations of all components of the country for stability and a comfortable life.

The statement added: “We in the Kurdistan Islamic Union reiterate our choice to remain as the opposition, because we see the presence of opposition forces as a temporary necessity for the system of governance, and support for any consensus that serves the national strategy at all levels.”
