Baghdad: The National Political Council affirmed its commitment to the constitutional timelines for the parliamentary session called for by the President of the Republic, and to finalizing the selection of the Speaker of Parliament and his deputies. A statement by the Council indicated that the National Political Council held a meeting Sunday evening at the Baghdad headquarters of Thabit al-Abbasi, head of the National Resolve Alliance, with the participation of leaders of the parties and alliances comprising the Council. The meeting discussed constitutional requirements and emphasized the importance of resolving them.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, it was decided to continue discussions at a meeting scheduled for next Tuesday. Those present affirmed their commitment to the constitutional parliamentary session called for by the President of the Republic on December 12, 2025, and to finalizing the selection of the Speaker and his deputies.
