Nineveh: The Nineveh Operations Command of the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) launched a large-scale security operation in the Nineveh desert from five axes, with the participation of army units and support from several PMF formations. The operation aims to pursue remnants of the ISIS terrorist organization and enhance security within its area of responsibility.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the PMF stated in a press release: “The operation aims to dry up the sources of terrorism, track down sleeper cells, and prevent any hostile movements in the desert areas through comprehensive search and sweep operations based on prior intelligence and field reconnaissance to ensure accuracy and speed of execution.”
Participating in the operation were brigades and departments of the Nineveh Operations Command, the Western Nineveh Operations Command, and the provincial information office, with direct support from PMF directorates, including military engineering, medical services, and explosives.
This operation is part of a series of preemptive operations carried out by the PMF in coordination with security forces to consolidate security and stability and prevent the regrouping of terrorist elements in open areas.
