The Political Council Praises Coordination Framework’s Focus on National Cohesion


Baghdad: The National Political Council commended the Coordination Framework’s commitment to cohesion on Thursday, emphasizing the importance of prioritizing the national interest.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, a statement indicated that the National Political Council held a meeting in Baghdad at the headquarters of Speaker of Parliament Haibat al-Halbousi, with the participation of leaders of the parties and alliances that comprise the Council, with the exception of the Azm Alliance. The participants discussed developments in the national and regional arenas, stressing the importance of calls for de-escalation and strengthening dialogue efforts in the region, which contributes to reducing tensions, supporting stability, and resolving problems through negotiations and diplomatic efforts.



The Council commended the Coordinating Framework’s commitment to national cohesion, affirming its adherence to this principle and emphasizing the importance of prioritizing the supreme national interest and engaging with the international community. It also reiterated its position as outlined in its previous letter to the Framework’s leaders.



In organizational matters, the Council resolved that its decisions would be made by a two-thirds majority, in accordance with the wishes of the General Assembly and in a manner that strengthens the spirit of cooperation and institutional work within the Council.
