Baghdad: The Popular Mobilization Authority Forces announced repelling a terrorist attack on the Baghdad-Kirkuk road, at midnight last night.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the forces of the 52nd Brigade in the Northern and Eastern Tigris Operations Command of the Popular Mobilization Forces successfully thwarted an attack targeting a critical security point. This incident occurred on the road linking Baghdad and Kirkuk, near the village of Maftool, west of Amerli.
The statement issued by the Authority mentioned that the commando forces and the support battalion were dispatched to the site following the attack. There were no casualties reported, and the forces took immediate action to bolster security measures and avert any further infiltration attempts.
The operation is part of the ongoing efforts by the Popular Mobilization Forces to ensure the security of vital roads and counteract terrorist activities aimed at destabilizing the region.
