Najaf: Sayyid Muhammad Reza al-Sistani, son of Grand Ayatollah Ali al-Husseini al-Sistani, has communicated the Supreme Religious Authority’s stance to the Coordination Framework leaders concerning the resubmission of names for the Prime Minister position.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, a letter from former MP Abdul Hadi al-Hakim, who maintains close ties with the religious authority, was circulated among parliamentary and political circles. This letter, addressed to the Coordination Framework leaders, confirmed that al-Hakim had conveyed their inquiries to Sayyid Muhammad Reza al-Sistani during a meeting on Saturday evening. The response from the religious authority reaffirmed its previous position on the matter.
The letter revealed, “In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Esteemed leaders of the Coordination Framework, following your request, I informed His Eminence Sayyid Muhammad Reza al-Sistani of the content of the inquiry you wished to raise with the Supreme Religious Authority during your meeting today.”
The Supreme Religious Authority’s response emphasized that it had already made clear its refusal to have candidate names for the Prime Minister position submitted to it, questioning the need for repeated attempts.
