The Secretary-General of the UN affirms his support for government efforts to return the displaced in Nineveh to their areas of origin

Baghdad / NINA /- The Secretary-General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, confirmed today, Thursday, his support for government efforts to return the displaced in Nineveh to their areas of origin.

A statement by the Ministry of Migration and Displacement said that the Minister of Migration and Displacement, Evan Faiq Jabro, accompanied today the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, on his visit to the camps for the displaced in Nineveh Governorate, to see the conditions of the displaced families in the camps.

In a speech during the meeting held inside the camp, Jabro said, “The Prime Minister attaches great importance to the file of the displaced and the return of families to their areas of origin, in addition to the importance of providing the necessary needs for the displaced and returning families.

Jabro also called, according to the statement, the international community to support the Ministry with relief for the displaced people in the camps and to support stabilization projects that encourage them to return.

For his part, the Secretary-General affirmed his support for the efforts made by the Iraqi government, represented by the Ministry of Migration and Displacement, to return the displaced people to their areas of origin after resolving all problems and obstacles that prevent their return./ End
