Damascus: The Syrian Presidency announced a comprehensive and immediate ceasefire in As-Suweida Governorate, in an effort to prevent the bloodshed and preserve the country’s unity.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Syrian Presidency called on all parties to abide by this agreement and to open the way for the state, its institutions, and its forces to implement the ceasefire.

The Syrian Presidency statement read: “In light of the critical circumstances the country is going through, and out of a desire to prevent bloodshed, preserve the unity of Syrian territory, and the safety of its people, and in response to national and humanitarian responsibility, the Presidency of the Syrian Arab Republic announces a comprehensive and immediate ceasefire.”

It called on all parties, without exception, to fully adhere to this resolution, immediately cease all combat operations in all areas, ensure the protection of civilians, and ensure unhindered access for humanitarian aid.

The Syrian presidency warned against any violation of this resolution, noting that it “would constitute a clear violation of national sovereignty and would be met with the necessary legal measures in accordance with the constitution and applicable laws.”

Security forces have begun deploying in a number of areas to ensure the implementation of the ceasefire, maintain public order, and protect citizens and their property, thus enhancing calm and stability.
