The UAE takes over its non-permanent seat on the UN Security Council

Baghdad The United Arab Emirates took over, today, Saturday, its seat as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council for the first time since 1987.

The Permanent Mission of the UAE to the United Nations stated in a statement on its official account on Twitter: The UAE is honored to occupy its seat in the Security Council for the period 2022-2023, with Albania, Brazil, Gabon and Ghana led by Lana Nusseibeh, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs and Permanent Representative of the Gulf State to the United Nations.

It quoted Lana Nusseibeh as saying that her country, through its seat in the Security Council, will continue its efforts towards establishing peace, stability and pluralism throughout the world.

The UAE had won a non-permanent seat on the UN Security Council during elections that took place last June, this being the second time it occupies the seat after it held it between 1986-1987.
