United nations: The United Nations is set to implement significant reductions in its peacekeeping forces across the globe, resulting in the withdrawal of thousands of troops from multiple conflict zones in the upcoming months. This move follows a notable decrease in funding from the United States to the organization.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the UN plans to decrease its peacekeeping forces by 25%. This decision aligns with the United States government’s efforts to restructure its financial contributions under President Donald Trump’s ‘America First’ policy.

The reductions will impact between 13,000 and 14,000 military and police personnel out of the more than 50,000 peacekeepers currently deployed in nine missions worldwide. The UN Support Office in Somalia will also experience reductions.

This initiative is part of a broader effort by the organization to cut nearly 15% of its $5.4 billion peacekeeping budget for the upcoming year, highlighting the financial challenges the UN faces in conducting its humanitarian and security operations.
