Gaza: The United Nations expressed its rejection of a proposed Israeli plan to prevent the delivery of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip, stressing that it contradicts the basic principles of humanitarian action and could contribute to the exacerbation of the catastrophic conditions experienced by civilians in the Strip.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs in Gaza stated, “The Israeli plan appears designed to strengthen control over essential supplies as part of a military pressure strategy, which is a clear violation of humanitarian principles.”

The Israeli plan proposes that aid should pass through checkpoints controlled by the Israeli military, with subsequent distribution approval by the United Nations, a proposal the latter categorically rejected.

The UN team warned that implementing the plan would force civilians to travel to dangerous military areas to obtain food rations, endangering their lives and the lives of relief workers, as well as making it difficult for people with special needs and the elderly to reach distribution points.
