Cairo: The third edition of the International Conference on Climate and Environment commenced today at the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States in Cairo. The event sees the participation of senior officials, experts, and specialists focused on climate action and development.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the two-day conference aims to emphasize the necessity of collective efforts to tackle environmental challenges and promote sustainability across the Arab region. National and regional strategies addressing climate change are being discussed, with particular attention to topics such as water resource management, plastic pollution, and the development of sustainable cities.

Ambassador Ali bin Ibrahim Al-Maliki, Assistant Secretary-General and Head of the Economic Affairs Sector at the League of Arab States, noted that the conference coincides with World Environment Day, observed annually on June 5. The conference aims to raise awareness on climate and environmental issues, highlight su
stainable development projects, and introduce several new initiatives.
