Basra: Basra police arrested those accused of vandalizing the lighting on Shatt al-Basra Bridge, after a video clip documenting the incident went viral on social media.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Basra Police Commander Major General Latif Abdul-Ridha al-Saad stated in a statement: "Intensive security and intelligence efforts resulted in identifying the suspects and arresting them by al-Hadi Police station." He stressed that the police command will not tolerate anyone who tampers with public property or harms the civilized appearance of Basra.

He pointed out that the attack on public funds is a crime punishable by law, and that it is socially and morally unacceptable behavior. He called on citizens to cooperate with security services and report any similar cases to preserve the city's aesthetics and service facilities.
