Al-shalamcheh: The Al-Shalamcheh border crossing in Basra Governorate has seen a significant influx of pilgrims from Iran, making their way to the holy city of Karbala to partake in the Arbaeen pilgrimage of Imam Hussein.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Deputy Governor of Basra for Administrative Affairs, Maher Ibrahim Al-Amiri, along with the Head of the Security Committee in the Provincial Council, Aqeel Al-Furaiji, visited the border crossing. Their visit aimed to monitor the service and security arrangements during this peak period of pilgrim arrivals.

Al-Amiri mentioned that the visit was part of an effort to evaluate the services provided at the crossing, which currently accommodates over 5,000 pilgrims daily. He highlighted the ongoing support and services offered by the governorate’s staff to the visitors.

Al-Furaiji stated that security forces have ramped up efforts to ensure the safety of pilgrims traveling from the al-Shalamcheh crossing to Karbala. This initiative is in collaboration with security commands in the central and southern provinces to ensure seamless movement and the safety of all participants in the pilgrimage.
