Baghdad: A security source revealed that three attempts to smuggle foreigners from the Kurdistan Region towards the capital, Baghdad, via Diyala Governorate, were thwarted in recent weeks.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, security forces, through the use of ambushes, especially on agricultural and rural roads, successfully thwarted three attempts to smuggle foreigners of different nationalities from the Kurdistan Region towards the capital, Baghdad.

The security forces arrested those involved in attempting to transport them illegally and took legal action against them in accordance with applicable laws.
