Three Kurdish Blocs Commit to Participating in Presidential Election Session

Baghdad: Three Kurdish blocs announced today their participation in the session to elect the president of the republic.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the National Position Movement, the Kurdistan Islamic Union, and the Kurdistan Justice Group issued a joint statement emphasizing their commitment to political stability and constitutional duties. The statement highlighted their determination to proceed with constitutional requirements without delay, showcasing their dedication to serving the Iraqi people.

The blocs declared their involvement in the upcoming session, scheduled for April 11, 2026, as a crucial step towards restoring constitutional regularity. This move aims to facilitate the formation of an effective government capable of addressing the citizens' aspirations for security, stability, and a dignified life. The joint statement underscored the importance of electing a president as a pivotal step in these efforts.

Furthermore, the Kurdish blocs announced their support for Dr. Muthanna Amin as their candidate for the presidency, expressing confidence in his competence and ability to handle the national responsibility during this critical period.
