Baghdad:The U.S. President’s envoy to Iraq, Tom Barrack, emphasized on Wednesday that Iraq is now self-reliant and stands on its own two feet.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Barrack stated that President Trump has successfully completed the process of bringing U.S. forces home, not by withdrawing and leaving the region, but by strategically aligning Baghdad, Erbil, regional partners, and U.S. interests. This strategic alignment comes at a critical moment and honors the Americans and Iraqis who served over the years.
Barrack further explained that this alignment has created an opportunity for Iraq’s Prime Minister, Ali Al-Zaidi, and the Iraqi people to unify all Iraqi armed forces under a single state authority and chain of command. The United States will maintain its role as a supportive friend to Iraq rather than a stationed force.
