Cairo: The Egyptian army announced that border guard forces seized large quantities of narcotics in various operations over the past month. The military Spokesman for the armed forces explained on Tuesday that border guard forces seized more than 12 tons of narcotics and other goods smuggled through customs, noting that the total value of the seizures approached two billion Egyptian pounds.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Spokesman explained that the drugs varied between hashish, narcotic cannabis, and opium, with the vast majority being hashish. He also noted that 391,000 narcotic pills were seized. Additionally, 628 automatic rifles, 5,245 various bullets, and an RPG launcher were confiscated during the past month.

The Spokesman confirmed that the total value of the seized items amounts to 1.89 billion Egyptian pounds.
