Trabzonspor Signs German Coach Thomas Reiss for Two Seasons

Trabzon: Turkish club Trabzonspor officially announces the signing of German coach Thomas Reiss for two seasons. The club confirmed that Reiss would be joining on a two-year contract, marking a significant change in their coaching lineup.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Trabzonspor has agreed to pay Bulgarian club Ludogorets a sum of 900,000 pounds to release Reiss from his contract. The German coach has an extensive background in managing teams, having previously led several clubs in Germany, such as Bochum and Schalke, as well as the Turkish club Samsunspor.

Reiss, aged 52, will be stepping in to replace Turkish coach Fatih Teke at Trabzonspor. Teke departed from his role by mutual consent at the beginning of September following a series of unsatisfactory results. Teke, 48, had been with Trabzonspor since March 2015, guiding the team through 62 matches.

Under Teke’s leadership, Trabzonspor achieved success by winning the Turkish Cup last year. However, the team faced challenges this season, being relegated from the Europa League to the UEFA Europa League after a 4-0 defeat to Hungarian side Ferencv¡ros. The shift in coaching is seen as a strategic move to improve the team’s performance in the upcoming seasons.
