Kirkuk: Undersecretary of the Ministry of Oil, Adnan Mohammed Hamoud, announced the start of trial operation of the gasoline hydrogenation and improvement project in the Kirkuk refineries, with a capacity of 12,000 barrels per day.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, during his visit to the Kirkuk refinery, a subsidiary of the Northern Refineries Company, Hamoud stated that the project is a key component of the strategic initiatives in the refining sector. It aligns with the government's directives and the ministry's plans to enhance production rates of petroleum derivatives.

Hamoud highlighted the attention and support the refining sector is receiving from Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani and Deputy Prime Minister for Energy Affairs and Minister of Oil, Engineer Hayan Abdul Ghani. He detailed that the project encompasses three hydrogenation and gasoline improvement units, an isomerization unit, and a reforming unit. The Ministry is committed to implementing strategic plans under the government program to develop the refining sector, boost national production of petroleum derivatives, and ensure local consumption while exporting the surplus.

The Undersecretary further mentioned that the project aligns with the Ministry's vision to bolster national production of improved, high-octane gasoline and elevate the quality of petroleum derivatives to meet international "Euro 5" specifications, maintaining adherence to environmental and safety standards. This initiative is expected to enhance the national capacity to meet the local market's demand for high-quality petroleum products.
