Ankara: On World Humanitarian Day, Trkiye has highlighted the critical need to protect aid workers and ensure the uninterrupted delivery of humanitarian assistance to Gaza.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement emphasizing the importance of safeguarding UN staff and humanitarian workers. The Ministry stressed the urgency of facilitating swift, safe, and unhindered delivery of aid to those in need, particularly in light of the escalating crisis in Gaza. The Ministry’s statement underscored the growing risks faced by humanitarian workers, noting that the United Nations is currently experiencing a record number of fatalities among these individuals as they fulfill their duties. The statement further highlighted that the deteriorating situation in Gaza accentuates the importance of the values represented by World Humanitarian Day, emphasizing the responsibilities to save lives and protect both humanitarian workers and civilians.
Additionally, the statement expressed gratitude and remembrance for the UN staff and humanitarian workers who have lost their lives while being targeted during their missions. The Turkish Foreign Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to continuing its efforts to deliver humanitarian aid globally, with a particular focus on the Gaza Strip, as part of its humanitarian-oriented foreign policy.
